Matthew Hale
I do not paint what I see; I paint what I feel. I do not seek to represent any specific object or concept, but by allowing my brush to be guided as much by my subconscious as by my conscious mind, the patterns and textures that emerge then become visual representations of invisible concepts. My intention is not necessarily to convey the specific emotion that I am experiencing while painting, but to create a work of art that will allow and encourage the viewer to respond with their own emotion, in their own way.
